Rotary Club Of Newcastle Scholarship

The Newcastle Rotary Club Charitable Trust is accepting applications for the annual memorial scholarship. The scholarship, in the amount of $3500, is awarded annually and graduating students from Miramichi Valley High School, North and South Esk Regional High School and Carrefour Beausoleil are eligible to apply. The Scholarship award criteria are modeled on the mission and values of Rotary. Applicants who demonstrate service and commitment to school and to community, solid academic achievement in high school, participation and achievement in athletic, arts and/or cultural activities and leadership skills will be considered favorably.

Applicants must be applying to enroll in a post-secondary institution to start Fall term 2021 to study full time in any field. Applications must be postmarked by July 15, 2021. Application forms will be available from the Principal and Guidance Offices at the 3 schools or it can be downloaded below. 

The 2020-2021 Newcastle Rotary Club Charitable Trust Memorial Scholarship will honor the late Scott Knowles.

Scott was an active Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Newcastle who left us to soon. He was a community leader, not only in his participation with Rotary, but also the Rock ‘n Roll Festival, National Advisory Board for TEVA, president of the New Brunswick Pharmacists Association as well as others. His legacy continues to shine through the community by way of The Scott Knowles Hockey Pool. All funds raised in this initiative goes back to the community. Scott is a model candidate for the Newcastle Rotary Club Charitable Trust Memorial Scholarship through his academic accomplishments having graduated from Dalhousie College of Pharmacy, through his athleticism as he enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, bowling, fishing and the great outdoors in general as well as his community involvement.
