Newcastle Rotary visit with students and teachers of the Max Aitken Academy – Purple Pinkie Day

Members of the Newcastle Rotary Valerie Comeau, Stacey Sutherland and Karen Howe and Rotary exchange student Clara Tremosa visited with the students and teachers of the Max Aitken Academy this morning with the purpose of educating children, teachers and parents in understanding the ongoing threat of polio. Purple Pinkies was aimed at teaching children the facts about polio and raising funds for vaccine. Each student had the opportunity to have their pinkie painted purple, the symbol used to identify a child in an endemic country who has received the lifesaving vaccine. Thank you to the students and teachers that helped raise funds for vaccines that will help eradicate Polio to zero!!
