Karen Howe was born in Miramichi and lived in Nelson. She has been married for 32 years to her husband Doug and has two children Adam and Rebecca. With past experiences as a cafeteria supervisor at both Miramichi Valley High School and Greta Green school, Karen at the age of 32 decided to travel to Moncton NB to obtain her degree in Civil Engineering Technology. Karen then worked in Halifax for a few years at both Marid Industries and RKO Industries but decided to become self employed in her home of Miramichi to be closer to her family. It was at that time at a Rotary Christmas party that she met her now employer Francis Malley of Des-Tek Inc. Karen became a member of the Newcastle Rotary this year and has already been involved in many of the club’s fundraisers and activities.
← The Newcastle Rotary is proud to announce that the committee has provided the Miramichi Minor Football Association with a donation of $1000 that went towards the purchase of 4 new helmets. The helmets on display in the picture have the new logo which is the head of a MINOTAUR. A minotaur is a beast from Greek mythology that is half human and half beast. The beast portion resembles the head of a bull. Each helmet shown in the picture represents the portion of funds donated by Rotary and now have a Rotary logo attached to the back of each helmet. Thanks to Claude LaBerge, President MIRFA, for bringing back this amazing sport to the Miramichi! The Newcastle Rotary is proud to support local youth education and sport.
