
Born in Newcastle,NB, Barb Stothart Graduated from MVHS in 1973. Barb obtained a Bachelor of Education at UNB Fredericton in 1978, while working with Saga Food Services, in a variety of positions to pay her way through school. Barb worked with the UNB Comptroller office, then joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1981 as a Personnel Administration Officer.Postings during her career of 28 plus years included Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Shearwater, CFB Halifax, Maritime Command Operational Information (MCOIN) Project, Directorate of Communications and Electronics Technical Services (DCETS) in Ottawa, Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert, CFS Carp, CFB Borden (CFRETS HQ, Base Borden HQ and Conflict Management Centre), HMCS Trinity, HMCS Provider (as Assistant Supply Officer), Maritime Command Headquarters.When the military elected to return to three distinct elements, Barb chose the Navy element.Her occupation changed to being a Logistics Officer when two branches of the military amalgamated. Barb’s primary roles included Human Resource management, personnel support services, budget manager and she qualified as a pay accounts officer. Her secondary roles included Harassment Advisor, trainer and investigator, handling cases and advising on policy and procedures in support of the DND program across Canada. Barbs favorite memories included being hoisted below a Sea King helicopter, traveling to several countries in Europe and to Bermuda, and back and forth across Canada through out her career.Barb joined for variety and security and achieved both of these goals in the various challenges, job opportunities, both primary and secondary, throughout her career.Barb retired in Dec 2009 and moved back to the Miramichi in Oct 2010. She joined the Corps of Commissionaires and remained with the organization until May 2018.Barb joined the Rotary in 2013 after having a great time volunteering the with the Pond Hockey event.
