Since his retirement in 2012 as an educator and high school principal Claude LaBerge has volunteered his time with the end goal of re-establishing the game of football into the City of Miramichi both at the high school and minor levels. Football programs are up and running at JMH and MVHS High Schools. As the President of the Miramichi Football Association (MIRFA), Claude coordinates all administrative aspects including financial management, meeting agendas with minutes, fundraising, equipment acquisition and distribution, coaching and development clinics.
Claude was the recipient of the Football New Brunswick GRIDIRON Award in 2016 for his efforts and behind the scenes work in getting football and a formal association up and running in the City of Miramichi. Fellow Rotarian Valerie Comeau is shown thanking Claude for being this week’s speaker.
